Description: Configure the Micros RES 3700 system to work with the SkyTab product, specifically regarding the technical setup and other considerations for configuration.
Pre Install Considerations
TCP Ports 443 and 9080 need to be open on the network firewall to allow SkyTab Processing.
Accessing the Enterprise Management Console (EMC)
- Open the Enterprise Management Console (EMC) shortcut on the desktop or from the Windows Start Menu.
- Log in to the EMC with a user with permission to edit the Micros Database.
- If logging into a standard user, certain menu options or fields may become inaccessible.
Navigating The Enterprise Management Console (EMC)
Once logged in on the left, you will have your "locations" navigation tree. This is split into three levels of access.
- The Organization\Enterprise level
- The Property\Location level
- The Revenue Centers level
The menu information on the right displays differently depending on the current selection in the location tree.
Selecting the Enterprise level option will display these menu options.
Selecting a Property Level will display these menu options.
Selecting a Revenue Center will display these menu options.
Configuring Tender/Media
You will need to add a Payment Tender for each card type your accept. These tenders will be identical (except for the names) and will be for non-zero payment amounts. These should ALWAYS have a charge tip linked.
- To begin Select a Revenue Center that will use SkyTab and from the Sales sub-menu select Tender/Media.
- Add a new Tender Type with the Insert button [
] located in the top menu bar.
- Name this record Shift4 "Tender Type", where Tender Type is the card brand. (Ex: Shift4 Visa)
It is important to know that any time a Record Number or Record Name is spoken of, these details should be written down for later use during the setup. These values are found in the “Current Record” on the side of the screen or within the config page for the setting. These values will be needed throughout the setup of the Simphony Configurator and the Shift4 Bridge. Ex: (# Record Name)
- Configure the Following Settings for each tender type you add:
- General Tab: Privilege Group: 1
- General Tab: Key Type: 1- Payment
- General Tab: NLU: 0-None
- General Tab: MMH: 0-None
- General Tab: Icon: 0-None
- General Tab: Report Group: 0-None
- General Tab: SRM Payment Type: 0-None
- Options Tab: Printing Options:
- Print options should be set as desired.
- Options Tab: Interface Options: Interface Link: 0-None
- No Interface options should be set.
- Options Tab: Credit Card Options:
- No Credit Card options should be set.
- Options Tab: Taxing Options:
- No Tax-exempt options should be set.
- Options Tab: Ops Behavior: Enable - Reference Entry Required
- Options Tab: Ops Behavior: Enable - Amount Required
- Options Tab: Ops Behavior: Hold Type: Fire order
- Options Tab: Charged Tip Options: Service Charge: $CHARGE TIP
- Options Tab: Charged Tip Options: Enable - Charge Tip Required
- Options Tab: Charged Tip Options: Enable - Post Amount to Gross Receipts on Tip Reports
- Options Tab: Charged Tip Options: Enable - Post Amount to Charged Receipts on Tip Reports
- Menu Level Tab: Enable - All Menu Levels
- Output Tab: Enable - the printing options as needed for your site.
- Save the changes once complete by pressing the [
] button in the above toolbar.
- Then repeat this process for each needed tender type.
SkyTab Print Tender
SkyTab determines menu item information based on a virtual “Printed” guest check. For best results, create a new Service Total tender just for SkyTab to generate its virtual printed check. Then, use this Tender number when setting the Print Tender in the SkyTab Configuration.
- Add a new Tender Type with the Insert button [

- 22 - Print Check Trailer: [Enabled]
- 23 - Print Check on Demand: [Enabled]
- General Tab:
- Save the changes once complete by pressing the [
] button in the above toolbar.
SkyTab Printer
SkyTab determines menu item information based on a virtual “Printed” guest check. For best results, create a new File Printer just for SkyTab to generate its virtual printed check. Link this Printer to the Transaction Services “workstation” as the Guest Check printer.
Configuring the Transaction Services Employee
- Return to the EMC and select the Configuration Tab, then select Employee
Maintenance. - Add a new employee with the Insert button [
] located in the top menu bar.
- Assign the employee with an operator record for the revenue center in which Transaction Services
operates. - Save the changes once complete by pressing the [
] button in the above toolbar.
Configuring SkyTab API Service Workstation
- Return to the EMC and select the Setup Tab then select Workstations.
- Add a new employee with the Insert button [
] located in the top menu bar.
- Add a new workstation, and name this SkyTab API.
- Configure the following:
- General Tab:
- Type: POSAPI Client
- Log Verbosity: 0
- Workstation Class: 0-None
- Service Host ID: Simphony Server (CAPS server).
- Revenue Centers Tab:
- Assign all Revenue Centers that will use this solution.
- Printers Tab:
- Guest Check Printer: (This is the SkyTab Printer you assigned earlier.)
- General Tab:
- Save the changes once complete by pressing the [
] button in the above toolbar.
Transaction Services Client License Count
- Return to the EMC and select the Enterprise Level in the menu select Enterprise Parameters then select the License Configuration Tab.
- Adjust the Transaction Services Client License Count to the total number of processing terminals.

- Save the changes once complete by pressing the [

SkyTab Simphony2 Interface Configuration
You need to enter the configuration settings that will be used by the SkyTab Simphony2 Interface. This is done through the Shift4Config program, which is located in the ...\Shift4Interface folder.
- Run the Shift4Config.exe program.
- Select the General Tab is not already on this page. The following will be provided by Shift4’s Deployment team to the dealer or installer for each.
- Service Namespace
- Service Path
- SkyTab Base URL
- Service Key Name
- Service Key Value

Micros Settings Tab
- Configure the following settings on this Tab.
- Log Verbosity (1-9): 1
- Transaction Services URL: The URL at which Transaction Services is located.
- Transaction Services Timeout: Will wait this many seconds for a response from Transaction
Services. - Print Tender: (Record number from simphony emc.)
- Send and Stay Tender: (Record number from simphony emc.)
- Skytab Transaction ID Number: (Record number from simphony emc.)
- SkyTab tip Service Charge: (Record number from simphony emc.)
- Shift4 Visa\MC: (Record number from simphony emc.)
- Other Accepted Tender Types: (Record number from simphony emc.)
Checks/Receipts Tab
The SkyTab interface will parse some information about check details from the Micros Receipt. This form allows you to select the method of determining what information on the check/receipt is part of the
details.
Check/Receipt Text Matching
Header Text Match Count - If this is 1, and this Header Last Line Text is located on the check/receipt, then the 1st occurrence of this text will be the end of the Header. If this is 2, then the 2nd occurrence of this will be the end of the Header, and so on.
Header Last Line Text - This text will be found in the last line of the Header. This can be in the check detail. Any lines located at or before this (starting at the top of the check) will be considered non-detail.
Trailer First Line Text - This text will be found in the last first line of the trailer. This can be in the check detail. Any lines located at or after this (starting at the bottom of the check) will be considered non-detail.
Line Counts
- Use Line Numbers and Count
- Check this to have the use a count of the check header lines and trailer lines to define what lines are check detail. Un-checked, the interface will match text strings in the check/receipt to define what is check details.
Last line number of Header - Any lines located at or before this line (starting at the top of the
check) will be considered non-detail.
Number of trailer lines - Any lines located at or after this line (starting at the top of the
check) will be considered non-detail.
Revenue Center Tab
This screen is used to define Transaction Services (TS) and get the revenue centers for each TS instance.
Add/Delete buttons will add a new, or delete the current, Transaction Services instance.
Configure the following:
- Transaction Services URL: Enter the URL for this Transaction Services instance.
- (Ex: Http://[IP ADDRESS]:[PORT]/Egateway/SimphonyPosApiWeb.asmx)
- Timeout (Seconds): 60
- Default RVC/EMP:
- Rvc ID: # (The Revenue Center ID Record number for this Particular Terminal Setup)
- Default Employee: Enter an Employee number of an employee who can view the
Revenue Center configuration.
For each Transaction Services instance, you should use the Get Revenue Centers button to retrieve the revenue centers that are active for that Transaction Service.
- Revenue Centers:
- These details will match what is configured in Simphony EMC.
- Number: The Revenue Center Number.
- ID: The Revenue Center ID.
- Name: The Revenue Center Name.
- Active? Check if this RVC will be used by SkyTab. (Un-Checking this will
remove the revenue center from this list the next time the configuration
program is loaded).
- These details will match what is configured in Simphony EMC.
Repeat this for each Transaction Services needed.

When you are done, go to Administrative and select Install Service. Now select File then Save, to save and close the configuration.
