Description: The following article will outline how to update the UPP firmware on an Ingenico Tetra PIN Pad.
Important: This process will take 30-35 minutes, during which the PIN Pad(s) that are being updated will be unusable. Ensure there is enough time allocated to completely finish the update before continuing.
To begin, confirm that the merchant is using a current UTG build, which includes the most recent UPP versions in Shift4\UTG2\Device Updates\Ingenico Tetra\. Update UTG as needed.
Note: Current UPP versions are included when installing the UTG thru utg2setup.exe to the folder: Shift4\UTG2\Device Updates. For additional information, please refer to the article Universal Transaction Gateway Update Procedure.
Alternatively, click on the link below to download the newest Unified Payment Platform (UPP) version separately, based on the device to be updated:
Copy the .OGZ, .PGZ, and .TGZ files from the folder for the device model to be updated. The files are unique for each device, so make sure you are using the appropriate files for your device. Paste the copied files into the C:\Shift4\UTG2\Update\Forms\[Device] folder as seen below.
Example: If you are updating Lane 3000, place the files in the Ingenico Lane 3000 folder.
Note: If you do not see a folder for the device you are updating here, the device hasn’t yet been configured in UTG TuneUp. Open TuneUp and select the Devices tab to ensure the appropriate device has been added, and then return to this folder to continue the update process.
When the files are in the correct folder, open UTG Standalone, confirm that the device’s status is Idle, then right-click on the screen, and select Device Maintenance.
On the Device Maintenance screen, select the device(s) to be updated and click Push Forms.
The update will begin. Progress can be tracked by watching the device in the UTG Standalone window.
Once completed, the device will show as ‘Idle’ in Standalone and the PIN Pad will return to the standard idle screen.
When the update is finished, delete all the files from the directory where the update files were placed in the first step of the article to avoid pushing updates to the device again.
In Standalone, right-click on the screen and select Device Maintenance one more time. On the window that appears, choose the device(s) to affect and click Download Now.
Note: This step is required as there have been reported issues with contactless transactions if this final download is not done after the forms have been pushed.
Allow the terminal to complete downloading and fully restart. The device will be ready to use once it returns to an 'Idle' status within Standalone and displays the merchants or the Shift4 logo on the PIN Pad.
