Description: The following article will outline how to update the Ingenico UPP firmware on the Tetra PIN pads to version 6.8.5. Before you begin, click on the link below to download the newest UPP updates based on the device you are trying to update:
Important:This process will take 30-35 minutes, during which the PIN pad will be unusable. Ensure you have enough time allocated to completely finish the update before continuing.
Note: There is an additional step once the update is complete to perform a download on the terminal. This step is required as there have been reported issues with contactless transactions if this final download is not done once the forms have been pushed
Copy the .PGZ, .TGZ, .OGZ files from the folder with the name of the device you are updating. The files are unique for each device so make sure you are using the appropriate files for your device. Paste into the C:\Shift4\UTG2\Update\Forms\[Device] folder as seen below.
Ex: If you are updating the Lane 3000, place the files in the Ingenico Lane 3000 folder.
If you do not see a folder for the device you are updating here, the device hasn’t yet been configured in UTG Tuneup. Open Tuneup and ensure the appropriate device has been added then return to this folder to continue the update process.
When the file is in the correct folder, open up UTG Standalone, right-click on the screen, and select Device Maintenance.
On the Device Maintenance screen, select the devices you want to update and click Push Forms.
The update will begin and takes between 30-35 minutes to fully finish on average. Progress can be tracked by watching the device in the UTG Standalone window. Once completed, the device will show as ‘Idle’ in standalone and the PIN pad will return to the standard idle screen.
When the update is finished, delete all the files from the directory where the update files were placed in the first step of the article to avoid pushing updates to the device again.
In Standalone, right click on the screen and select Device Maintenance one more time. On the window that appears, choose the device and click Download Now.
Allow the terminal to complete downloading and fully restart. Once restarted the device will be ready to use.
