Description: This article covers the process you should follow to transfer needed files for the Shift4 Bridge to the e7 workstations through the use of their built in file management utility.
Application File Placement
BOC FILES (SERVER FILES)
After running the e7 Bridge installer, navigate to the folder located in "...\Shift4Interface\BOCFiles”. It contains these files:
Both of these files will need to be moved to the appropriate folders on the back of house computer (server workstation).
Move these to:
- (32-Bit Windows) C:\Program Files\MICROS\e7\Bin
- (64-Bit Windows) C:\Program Files (x86)\MICROS\e7\Bin
- Alternatively this can also be in C:\Program Files\MICROS\Bin
The install will have also created the folder “...\Shift4Interface\CAL”. It contains these files:
These three files need to be transferred to each workstation, there are two ways to do this:
CAL Package (Option 1)
Copy the Shift4 folder within the C:\Shift4Interface\CAL and its contents to the appropriate E7 “CAL\Packages” folder on the Server PC. Depending on the type of workstation(s) in use you may have to copy this into multiple folders.
- (32-Bit Windows) C:\Program Files\MICROS\CalServer\WS5a\Packages\Shift4
- (64-Bit Windows) C:\Program Files (x86)\MICROS\CalServer\WS5a\Packages\Shift4
File Utility (Option 2)
Log into the Micros E7 Software with a pin. There is a button within the software called ‘File Utility’ that is usually located on the main screen once logged into the POS. You will need the POS configurator Username and Password to access this in most cases. Once the File Utility is open, you will see a screen that looks like this:
On the left side of the screen is the Server (BOH) PC.
- Select the Shift4Interface Folder
- Select the CAL folder
- Select Shift4 folder
You will then see the following files:
Once the files are displayed, move to the right side of the File Transfer Utility.
On the right side of the screen, navigate to: \CF\micros\e7\Bin. You will then highlight the files from the left side and select Copy.
Once completed, verify the files transferred by using the scroll bar. The files are listed alphabetically.
This step will need to be completed for each workstation listed in the drop-down.
Once all files have been transferred to each workstation, retrieve newer definitions for each workstation in the next section.
Retrieving Newer Definitions
You can update each workstation to ensure each file was successfully loaded by going to the Server (BOH) PC and retrieving newer definitions. This can be completed by opening the Manager Screen on the Server (BOH) PC.
- Select Workstations at the top menu bar
- Select the Workstation that needs to be updated
- Select Retrieve Newer Definitions
This will need to be completed for each Workstation listed to ensure the files are pushed to the Workstations.
