Description: Many use 4Words to access customer card information via a Shift4 TrueToken or 4 English Dictionary Words that have been shared with them. The use of the TrueToken or 4Word value to pull up the full card number counts as consumption of the TrueToken associated with those 4Words.
By default, TrueTokens and assigned 4Words can only be used once per transaction. This setting can be changed on the Token Store settings for your Lighthouse Transaction Manager (LTM) Account Settings.
- Log into LTM as the Administrator User.
- Navigate to Settings > General Settings.
- Locate the section Token Store Settings.
- Change the Token Usage setting to Multi-use.
- At the bottom right of the page, select Save Changes.
Note: This change is not retroactive, this means TrueTokens or 4Words issued prior to this account change can only be used once. Newer invoices going forward will be issued with the new logic that allows multi-use.
Note: This setting does not affect information considered "Sensitive Authentication Data." As exposing card information effectively acts as utilization of a TrueToken, per PCI DSS we will remove this data after the card information is obtained via 4Words or the Sensitive Authentication Data Storage setting's timeframe has passed, whichever comes first. After this, 4Words will only return the card number and expiration.
