Description: The Shift4 SSL\TLS Certificate is required to facilitate secure communication between systems. This article should be used if you cannot use the Microsoft Management Console to add the certificate as a local machine certificate. Generally, this is because you do not have a local admin account and only have access to a user account. The methods below will allow you to import the certificate if you are the current user that is logged in.

INTERNET EXPLORER
- Open Internet Explorer.
- Select Tools from the menu bar and go to Internet options.
- In the window that opens go to the Content tab.
- Select the Certificates button.
- In the window that opens click theTrusted Root Certification Authorities tab.
- Import the certificate file that was generated with the Shift4 Certificate Generator.
- Select place all Certificates in the following store and make sure it has Trusted Root Certification Authorities.
- To finish highlight 'Certificate Store Selected By User' and select Finish.
FIREFOX
- Open your Menu select Options.
- From the side menu select Privacy & Security.
- Locate the section called Certificates, and select View Certificates.
- Ensure you are on the Your Certificates tab and select Import.
- Import the Public Certificate with Private Key .pem or .pfx.
GOOGLE CHROME (WINDOWS PC)
- Open Chrome.
- Go to the Settings menu.
- Expand the Advanced Settings.
- Locate the "HTTPS/SSL" section (In Version Chrome v60 + Select Privacy and Security).
- Click Manage Certificates.
- In the window that opens click the “Trusted Root Certification Authorities” tab.
- Import the Public Certificate with Private Key .pem or .pfx.
GOOGLE CHROME (MAC/APPLE PC)
- Open Chrome.
- Go to the Settings menu.
- Expand the Advanced Settings.
- Locate the "HTTPS/SSL" section (In Version Chrome v60 + Select Privacy and Security).
- Click Manage Certificates. The Keychain Access utility will open. Chrome uses the Keychain Access utility built into MAC OS to manage digital certificates.
- Under 'Keychains' on the left, select 'Login' then 'File' > 'Import Items...'
- Navigate to the location of your saved certificate file and click Open.
- Enter the key pair's password and click OK.
Note: If prompted whether to trust certificates issued by your CA automatically, select the Always Trust option to trust and install your certificate.
The certificate will be installed and can be viewed by clicking Category > My Certificates in the Keychain Access utility.
