The UTG Stub when started will open all screens in an unorganized pile on the screen. These buttons when pressed will automatically arrange the populated information screens for easy reading or navigation.
Shows an overview of the current state for each configured communication thread.
Displays version details and runtime status of the UTG Stub.
- The first line displays the current time, day, and date.
- The second line displays the following from left to right:
- How long the UTG has been running in the dd:hh:mm:ss format.
- The build number. In this example, the build is 919. An b after the build number indicates the UTG Stub is running in Stand Alone and other indicators will appear in trace.
- The number of UTG threads created out of 90, or the maximum configured for the UTG. In this example, the number of threads created is 15 out of 90.
- The time the UTG stub started in the hh:mm:ss format.
- The day the UTG started.
- The date the UTG started in the mm/dd format.
- The third line displays the current UTG status and any of the following may appear:
- Running – the normal status when the UTG Stub is operating.
- Pre-Shutdown, Shutdown Pending, Shutdown Start (countdown), Shutdown, and Shutdown Now – A series of statuses as the UTG Stub is being stopped.
[LEGACY] Web Server (Green):
This section displays the web server status. This is no longer used with modern interface setup's and can be ignored.

Socket - The number of active Windows Intranet Sockets.
Other details should be ignored or are for legacy systems.
Device Thread (TEAL):
In the above example, the device name is "RES3" but the line shows "RES3C", this means that the STUB has received something requesting that the configured COM PORT is open thereby verifying that the STUB is ready to receive data from the hardware device. If no "C" is present there is an issue with the COM Port in use with the Stub\Device. Try removing and re-adding the Com Port in the modem configuration utility. (see, Using the Shift4 Modem Configuration Utility)
You will also see either "Process" or "Wait Connect" at the end of the Second Line, In the case of "Process" the UTG connected successfully and the device should be ready. "Wait Connect" means the UTG has not connected and you should check the configuration/UTG Standalone on the server.
If "Wait Connect" perform a Browser Test (See: How To Perform The UTG Browser Test.) to the IP and PORT of the STUB. If you do not get a "Process" after doing the Browser Test the port is being blocked either on the network or by a firewall on the machine and needs to be checked by the merchants IT.
